A few things in the works

I am still waiting for final go-ahead from Jay but I hope to be adding a email form to the "www.ralphscorner.com" ASAP that will allow people to send a pre-written letter to the Moorhead mayor and council members.

I'll also have "Save Ralph's" buttons made up shortly for the bar to sell to raise any money they need to help out with the fight ahead.

Does anybody have any other ideas of how we can get people involved and help our favorite corner dive bar?

  • Several ideas...

I take it that you help work on the website...maybe use that clout to contact John Strand, the High Plains Reader editor (at jas@hpr1.com) and recommend to John that we coordinate plans on what each group does. John is excellent at providing coverage of such causes, and has good ideas on getting things into the public eye. Instead of acting independently, I would strongly suggest doing that. Be sure and let us know when you get the website updates, and then I'll link to that all over the place, and let people know. I would recommend you asking Atomic Coffee if they'd be willing to have buttons there for sale for Ralph's. Doesn't hurt to ask, and they're pretty understanding people. Yes, I know Atomic Coffee has been pretty quiet, but my 'inside man' (aka, my boyfriend who practically lives at Atomic Coffee), says it's only because the owner's lawyers tell her to keep mum about things...she DOES want to stay in the area and cares about the downtown. It's a place to be sure and get traffic and see the buttons, especially if there is a sign somewhere like in door or in bathroom, or by a display of the buttons by the checkout...

I'm definitely open to expanding this past the scope of only saving Ralph's, the more the merrier, strength in numbers, and all that jazz.

I know and like John Strand but he can go a bit overboard on these things and at some point become a detriment rather than helpful, though I suppose it's the passion he brings that causes that. So far though I think the Reader has done a good job with what they've printed so far.

I agree on getting a coordinated effort, the last thing needed is a few people to let loose on their own and piss Moorhead off.

Now would it be okay if the softball team used a bit of this energy so we could win a freaking game?

I think the reader has done a good job as well. I still think more people should write though. I wrote something, I'm not as sober or as smart as some people, but I still wrote something.
        Hopefully they will print it.

Phil, our team will probably never win another game this year.
        Hooray for optimism.
